procrastination post...

i have this mini-presentation on cystic fibrosis tomorrow...so of course i'm looking for things to do other than prepare! i just started week three of peds - and switched from a general team to pulmonary. lots of little kids on vents or with asthma - problem: i'm horrible at vent settings and am very weak on my pulm drugs! guess i now have a focus for my study...

i was at a coffee shop reading "up to date" articles on CF earlier...they were airing a '90s radio station - seems we've become retro. i'm only 24 and i'm already being made to feel old by the music industry! the grey hairs are stress-induced not natural aging, people! it seems i never truly feel age appropriate: i feel ignorant and young on rounds, ancient when examining 13-year-olds, childish when puddle jumping or letting reverberating burps rip, grown-up when purchasing major appliances and paying monthly bills. i'm not exactly sure how 24 should feel, but it seems i'm most often teetering on the boundaries of responsibility.

and with mention of responsibility, i should probably continue my research for tomorrow.
(to all you 2nd year troops - as you plow through test week, remember to drink caffeine & eat your veggies - confuse the hell out of your immune systems! i'll see you next weekend...the faint illusion of light at the end of this tunnel.)

you and your burps. i'm so very proud. you know, you sometimes outdo me on all that macho stuff. like eating, for example. i'm not sure whether to be ashamed, proud, or slightly disgusted. i'm so confused! hey, lets go skiing over break, and then we can pretend we're kids again and try to make jumps out of every little bump on the side of the run! or in your case, not get off the lift at the top, and run into trees on the way down:)

oh, that was low! i was just being a creative skier...getting off the lift at the top was too mainstream for me - i wanted to add a little kick to my dismount! can't beat dropping into a snowbank on the way back down! (i'll give you the trees...although that was probably just a ploy to get to ride the lift with mom for the rest of the day so i could eat all of the stale cinnamon bears!)

you always did like snacks. although, we are grable children, so which one of us doesn't? i know for a fact sara can hold it down with the triscuits.if there's one thing we do well, it's eat. thank goodness for mom's good cooking, eh?

How can there be a discussion about consuming vast amounts of food with no mention of me? Not only am I hurt, I vow to "make a statement," "step it up," and "give 120%" at the Christmas dinner table.

How sad, Aaron. I don't even particularly like triscuits, though I can't dispute your scarfing claims . . .

Hey Colleen, I'm a friend of Jen and Aaron's, so I found your blog through his website. You probably don't remember me but I took GB at Rosario when you were there for upper division. ANYWAY, I was intrigued by your post because my cousin has CF. That's cool that you did a presentation on it.

ronn--let me be the first to formally apologize for excluding you from any discussion of grable eating habits. you are twice the gourmand i'll ever be. pringles run in fear...i'm excited to see what you hold in store for the grable family this holiday season. welcome to the team.
