pie ala mode...
i went out to claim jumper's tonight...and ordered warm berry pie ala mode for dinner. nope, not dessert. served with everyone else's sandwiches, salads, entrees came my steaming berry pie. justification: i was getting fruit, dairy, and grains packed into one fabulous meal! my current status is oh-so happy and content!
i left the hospital today riding on the glorious cloud of a day off. such liberation associated with leaving work knowing you don't have to be back early the next morning for rounds. sure i have call on sunday, but even that doesn't seem so bad...i'll be checking off my LAST call until january! i can handle even the most hectic 30 hours knowing i will not be working another night or weekend until after christmas. i'm guessing i'll get slammed...1) weekend call = more admissions, 2) i had zero admits on my last call & got 8+ hours of sleep - no one gets that lucky twice in a row! i say bring it on...if i'm up all night i'll just be awake to appreciate the passing of every hour, inching me closer to my 2 months with no call!
i'm off to read in bed for a bit - yea for getting to "sleep in" in the am. no alarms!
*feeling the need for an '80s flashback? my current craving is being satisfied by alphaville, "forever young"! (napoleon: "i like your sleeves. they're real big." deb: "thank-you. i made them myself" - most awkward dance conversation ever?!)
*discovery of the day: i actually DO like something about football season...nubby dr. pepper bottles = great grip and less condensation!

i've been showing my dad your blog...he's quite fascinated with all your med school adventures! :) hope you're having a good weekend! maggie.
i'm so proud of you. pie for dinner. what a champion. i can't believe you'd be so bold as to mention dr. pepper on your blog, though. why don't you just go ahead and flaunt your reeses peanut butter cups and taco bell too? pssh...americans...
oh...did i mention i had starbucks this morning, too? :) don't you worry; we'll catch you up when you get back stateside...taco bell burritos, holiday cups at starbucks, good american french fries - just you wait little brother! america will never have tasted so sweet!
Aaron, do you get Smarties? We passed those up this weekend in Toronto (not actually tasty) for take-home treats like funky gum and crumpets. I guess "funky gum" doesn't sound terribly exciting, but it is. Trident gone wild. But you both should come visit and escape American branding. There's a Toronto coffe house, Second Cup, that's amazing. Plus, good Indian food WITHOUT plastic rose centerpieces, veggie dogs on the street for $2 Canadian, and Chinese buns three for a dollar. So who's coming?
ME!! ME!! hell yes, that place sounds like a dream...i'm gonna be ready for some good food too, after all these meat pies i've been eating. the food here is about half a notch up from british, the only redeeming quality being the fruit. seriously, who eats spaghetti for breakfast and pancakes as a side dish at dinner? sara, does toronto perhaps have any tasty mongolian sherpa buffets? i could go for another day in the uni district with you...fun memories.
veggie from a vendor?! i'm there too! and sounds like i could enjoy second cup...i'm big on coffee! :) i'm dying to come out and see you guys - toronto would be fun too!
